Privacy at Echo Abyss
Short version: the game stores a save and a session cookie. If you use your own API key, it is encrypted server-side for that session. We do not ask for your real name.
What we store
- A random session ID in a cookie, used to find your save.
- Game state: name you choose, stats, inventory, story turns, achievements and endings.
- If you enter an API key, an encrypted copy for the current session.
- Aggregate page-view analytics (GoatCounter), without advertising profiles.
What is sent to AI providers
Your action, a compact game-state summary and recent story turns are sent to the selected AI provider to generate the next scene. Do not type personal information you do not want processed by that provider.
Cookies
The session cookie is required for saves. It is HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax and Secure on HTTPS. Clearing it creates a new save.
Third-party advertising
No ads are currently enabled. If Google AdSense is enabled, Google, as a third-party vendor, may use cookies—including the DoubleClick DART cookie—to serve and measure ads on this site. You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings, and learn about other participating vendors at aboutads.info. Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland will see a consent prompt before ads are enabled; declining personalized ads does not affect reading.
Your choices
You can play without an account, avoid entering an API key, clear cookies to start a new save, and revoke a DeepSeek key in your DeepSeek account at any time.
